three-hearted cuttlefish

My sister has a pendant, a silver cuttlefish molded from a fossil. My sister does not wear jewelry, but she found out that the cuttlefish has three hearts: two hearts pump blood to each gill, and the third heart pumps blood to the rest of the cuttlefish’s body. My sister will make a necklace with the cuttlefish pendant and wear it as a good-luck charm. While this chameleon-like mollusc may be an unlikely poster child for heart surgery patients, I still think my sister’s discovery indicates that the cuttlefish makes a fine patron saint.
